PENNIES FOR THE PLAYGROUND UPDATE
The blue penny container was quite popular at Acreman as everyone tried to get in their last few coins. It is hard to believe that in just a couple of months, students brought in over $500 in pennies alone! We know that it is you, their parents and family members who made this possible. So from the bottom of our hearts....we thank you.
Keep in mind that there will be a Penny Drive, Flea Market and Bake Sale at the Whiteway Rec Centre on July 14th from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. All proceeds going to our Playground Project. For more information contact Falynn Dempsey (falynndempsey@yahoo.ca) or Jennifer George (jetsg2003@yahoo.ca)
If, for some reason, this date is not suitable for you....remember that the Green’s Harbour Building Committee will be hosting a Penny Drive and Canadian Tire Money Drive on July 28th at the Greens Hr Lions Centre. Breakfast will also be available that morning at a low cost for anyone interested. The money from the Breakfast will also go towards the playground.

A SPECIAL VOLUNTEER
What better day for Ian Hill, Volunteer CEO of Let Them Be Kids, to visit our school than on Volunteer Appreciation Day! Mr. Hill and his daughter, Nadia, joined us for the Volunteer Appreciation Assembly, and after being presented with a gift on behalf of our communities, Ian stood to say a few words. Students, teachers, and volunteers were captivated by his inspirational message. He talked about how special each of us are and emphasized to the students how much they are loved by the people in our communities. He explained that people are giving of their time, talent, and treasure because they want them to have a future. He continued to say that there are 263 volunteers because everyone wants the best for them. He urged the students to show their gratitude by making something of themselves; by being the best they can be in whatever they do. What an impact was felt!
Mr. Hill then met with playground committee members and toured the property discussing the possibilities of an outdoor classroom, soccer field, peace garden, and of course, the playground. As the committee's coach, he offered guidance and direction with the total vision. It was a memorable day!

This means Roger and Rosalind will be donating the matching funds of $5000 in loving memory of former Acreman teacher and friend Craig Shute and Roger's sister Lorie Bryant, giving us a total of $10,000 to help achieve our goal. Thank you to each and every one of you who gave to make this possible! Thank you Roger and Rosalind!

MORE BIG NEWS!
Don't miss out on your chance to QUADRUPLE your playground donation!
Any donations made to Acreman’s Playground Project between now and the end of June will be matched up to $5000! That’s right, your donations as a school family, former student, community group, business, or church will be matched by Roger and Rosalind Green. This means that your donation of $20 will automatically become $40 when matched by the Green family. That will then be matched by Let Them Be Kids!!! So remember the key is to get your donation in by June 30th!
The
matching funds donated by Roger and Rosalind will be donated in memory of
Roger’s sister Lorie Bryant and former Acreman teacher and friend Craig Shute.
“This time of year”,
says Roger Green, “always brings fond memories of Craig Shute. He would drop by
my office to see what could be done to help offset the cost of Acreman’s field
trips and year-end activities.” To honor Craig’s example of giving, as well as
in memory of Lorie, the Green family are extending this challenge.
Nobody can do everything, but
everyone can do something.
